New Pokemon games revealed

The next two games in the gaming giant franchise Pokemon were announced this morning.  Pokemon X and Pokemon Y will be coming out October 2013 worldwide for the 3DS, breaking some trends for Game Freak, the game’s developer, while continuing others.

For one, this will be the first round of Pokemon to have it’s international releases close together, something that is usually separated by at least a few months. Also, this round of games has finally broken the color streak of Pokemon game names, from Red and Blue to Black and White, Pokemon games have always had a color associated with them, but apparently no more.

However, some things never change. Players will have a choice to pick between three starter Pokemon – Froakie, Fennekin and Chespin, Water, Fire, and Grass-types respectively.

For a closer look at the recently announced games, check out the video above. Pokemon X and will only work on the 3DS, not any other type of DS, so looks like it’s finally time to grab one if you haven’t already.

Over a million Wii and Wii Us sold

Nintendo sold over a million hardware during the last week, which included the launch of their new next generation console the Wii U, CNET reported today.

The figure includes 400,000 Wii Us, 300,000 Wiis, and more than 500,000 portable devices, such as the 3DS and DS, sold.

Nintendo of America’s President, Reggie Fils-Aime, said that the Wii U is “essentially sold out of retail,” a fact reminiscent of its predecessor, the Wii, which was notoriously hard to find during the first few months of it launching. Nintendo hopes to not relive those shortages with its new console.

“We’ve certainly learned many lessons from that and we are replenishing retailers more quickly this time around,” Fils-Aime told CNET.

The Wii U launched on November 18 at $299.99.
